MICHAEL COLLEARY
Lew and Pamela Hunter/Jonathan Zakin Chair in Screenwriting

WITH SUCCESSFUL SCREEN CREDITS that include Face/Off and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Michael Colleary brings real-life writing experience to his Screenwriting 434 graduate seminar.

“Writers are always the poor stepchildren in entertainment,” says Colleary, this year’s Hunter/Zakin Chair in the School of Theater, Film and Television. “So the fact that someone singled out the screenwriting program [for an endowment] is an extremely meaningful act. It’s a shot in the arm for the faculty and the culture of the film school and the writing department.”

Colleary M.F.A. ’86 is the second recipient of the chair. He follows in the footsteps of his writing partner and fellow UCLA alum, Mike Werb M.F.A. ’02, who held it last year.
