Bruins have participated in every Summer Olympics since 1928. In August, we learn about some of the more than 30 UCLA alumni who could be going for the gold in Beijing.
At least 34 current and former Bruins are in hot pursuit of an Olympic slot — or have already earned the right to compete in Beijing. In 2004, Bruin students and alumni captured 19 medals in Athens. If UCLA were a country, that would have placed it 14th in the per-country medal count. Among the Olympiads and Olympic hopefuls for 2008:
