No, it's not ET Parents Weekend in Westwood, and those lights are beaming up from behind Royce Hall, not down from a UFO. The spectacular Bruin Light Show — four giant columns of blue light rising into the sky around Royce Quad — is a key component of the festivities surrounding UCLA Volunteer Day. The show went on before an enthusiastic crowd one night in late September as part of the True Bruin Welcome event; the next day, approximately 6,000 Bruin volunteers fanned out around the city.
