CicLAvia celebrated 100 years of UCLA in October.

Scores of cycling, walking and skating Angelenos traveled through 6-plus miles of carless streets for the CicLAvia: Heart of L.A., Celebrating 100 Years of UCLA, centennial event. On Oct. 6, the 33rd edition of CicLAvia — when an area of Los Angeles streets is blocked to motorized vehicles and transformed into a public park — honored the university’s origins in downtown L.A. a century ago. Participants — plenty of Bruins among them — breezed through the open roads of eight communities: MacArthur Park, Westlake, Pico-Union, Civic Center, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, the Arts District and Boyle Heights.
