  • Thank you Jonathan for focusing on the more subtle aspects of Carnival in New Orleans. I would like to see more photos on-line!

  • These wonderful photos really capture the Mardi Gras culture and the pride of the people who participate in it. Thank you to Jonathan for all his important work documenting unique communities in the U.S.

  • Thanks for the terrific pictures! It's always amazing to me how much we as a nation are fascinated by our imagined Middle East, and yet have such a woeful lack of knowledge about the real Middle East. I only wish Cleopatra and Aladdin could provoke a bit more curiosity about the real people who live in Alexandria and Baghdad now!

  • What an excellent topic during this timne when understanding is needed. Jonathan Friedlander provides strong insight into how the Middle East has become part of the American culture.
